Project Description
Botanical Traditions prepared the Concept Plans, Planting Plans, and Tender Drawings for this multi-level, Early Childhood Centre Design which covers three different levels and has a significant slope on the ground floor. The first floor playspace is covered to allow for all-weather play, while steps guide children down to the ground level. There are several paths with different surfaces and textures that meander through the play space, leading to different areas. Access to natural materials such as sand, water, rocks, stones, timber and plants has been considered in this design, but also space for Educators to provide flexible equipment for the children’s developing needs. A textured crawling path, turf mounds and a climbing wall have been included in this space ensuring maximum educational opportunities for each age and stage of development. Trees and understorey plants are strategically situated to offer a green outlook from the inside, as well as to create a sense of enclosure within the outdoor play areas with possibility for incidental learning about nature.
