Project Description

A specialist school serves its community from the moment families arrive — and this Landscape Masterplan was designed with that in mind from the outset.

Developed for a Regional Specialist School in rural Victoria, the Masterplan addressed the full extent of the site — from the streetscape and arrival sequence through car parking, entrance areas, and into the broader school grounds. Every element was resolved to create an environment that is safe, accessible, secure, and genuinely welcoming for students, families, and staff.

Planting across the site was approached with clear intention. Beyond the playspaces, species were selected to provide ecological habitat and a sense of natural connection to the surrounding landscape. Within the playspaces, planting was chosen for its sensory qualities — contributing texture, fragrance, and seasonal interest in ways that are directly meaningful to the students who use them.

Formal outdoor areas incorporate herb and vegetable gardens alongside structured seating — supporting horticultural therapy and hands-on learning as a natural extension of the classroom environment.
The Masterplan brings all elements of the site together as a single, cohesive landscape — purposeful in every detail, and designed to serve a community for the long term.
