Residential Garden, Mont Albert |
Project Description |
This project involved concept, preliminary and permit plans to be drawn up. Once council approval was given construction started. The project uses Australian Hardwood in oversized dimensions to give the deck a bold presence. The timber used for the deck construction is spotted gum which gives various shades of honey through to deep red. A built-in seat with hidden storage compartments was also constructed. The deck has a Makrolon roof in 'Steel', which has excellent heat-reflecting properties. A modern lighting design allows the deck to be used all year round, day or night. Random rectangular and square pavers in a light honey colour surround the deck, with drainage carefully concealed by a pebble-filled channel. The planting is a mixture of native, indigenous and exotic drought hardy plants. The flowers of blues, purples (Alyogyne Huegelii) and yellows (Brachyscome ‘Pacific Sun’) highlight the blue trim on the house, and the painted fence adds a contemporary backdrop to the planting scheme. |
