Project Description |
The Concept Design for the 2024 Spring’s Seasonal Flower Display in Sydney was inspired by the Concept of Habitat Harmony - a celebration of the intricate balance between natural and man-made environments. In Australia, the diversity of climates shapes a wide variety of habitats, from flowing waterways, wetlands, and estuaries to the vast stretches of deserts, open plains, dense forests, grasslands, and the unique ecosystems along the coast. The Plant selection in this design seeks to bring these environments into the heart of the city, creating immersive floral displays that invite both people and urban wildlife to explore, connect, and experience the beauty of Australia's habitats in new ways. The display was installed across multiple sites in the City of Sydney. The display at St Mary’s Cathedral was a featured site, with a special focus on beneficial insects. Spring seasonal flowering displays have an advantage as we can show case many native flowering plants at this time of year. Through this Concept, the Seasonal Flower Display aims to create a living tapestry across the city — a reminder of the diverse habitats that shape our environment and the harmonious coexistence of all species, both human and non-human, within it. |
