This playspace has many manipulable materials or loose parts, a diversity of ground surfaces and significant plantings. This creates an unique opportunity for children to experience both risk and challenge, giving them a safe area they can explore and learn in. The area has clear pathways, areas of different scales and textures, and manipulable materials such as sand, dirt, logs, leaves and pebbles. There is a fenced area that provides space for animals such as chickens, an orchard and a vegetable growing area. Plants have been selected to provide a variety of experiences - some are seasonal, some have an interesting texture and others have interesting seed pods.
