Professor Lynn Corcoran Early Learning Centre

The Professor Lynn Corcoran Early Learning Centre, located in Parkville, Melbourne, is an initiative of the Walter and Elizabeth Hall Institute of Medical Research. One of the biggest barriers to parents’ career development, especially for women, is access to child care. It was identified within the institute that only one-third of senior laboratory heads were female, so they began the journey to create an environment that enables all parents — men and women — to equally balance their career and professional responsibilities. As a multi-level centre, Botanical Traditions was afforded the perfect opportunity to create playspaces on each level for dedicated age groups whilst using flora and natural materials to invite a sense of outdoor adventure into the building. The centre was opened on June 6th, 2018.
