Botanical Traditions - Aitken Hill Community Centre

The Playspace at the Aitken Hill Community Centre is full of a range of play opportunities. It contains open, flexible spaces of lawn and softfall which can be utilsied in a variety of ways. It has 'Forest Exploration Zones' complete with pebble areas, mounds and dense planting. There are a number of sandpits, wetplay areas and cubbies.

The transition down to the playground from the verandah area is addressed via ramps and steps. The verandah has been informally divided utilising a range of raised planters and gardens beds. The edge of the verandah has been softened with the installation of garden beds and by extending the deck out to form sandpits, lookout features and into garden areas.
